Zilong Xie is the director of the Hearing and Aging Research (HEAR) Lab. He completed his Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas at Austin and is an Assistant Professor in the School of Communication Science and Disorders at Florida State University.

 

Anya Chatani is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab.

Grace Frerking is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab.

 

Eva Gegovski is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab.

 

Brennan Hetrick is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab. He is from Jacksonville, Florida and is majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders. He is currently on the executive board for American Sign Language Club and loves to be involved with outreach within the Deaf community. Following undergraduate years, his goal is to pursue a Doctorate in Audiology.

 

Hayley Krush is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab. She is from Jacksonville, Florida. She is majoring in Communication Science and Disorders and minoring in Biological Science, with a goal of applying to graduate school for a Doctorate in Audiology.

 

Taylor McConnell is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab.

 

Allysen Nicolas is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab.

 

Kiera Sinclair is an undergraduate research assistant at the HEAR Lab. She is a 2024 to 2025 UROP student with a Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience major and Chemistry minor on a pre-medical track at Florida State University. She will use this degree to pursue her neurosurgeon aspirations in medical school.

 

Rachel Stramanino is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab.

 

Julia Weinberg is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab. She is from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and is attending Florida State University as a Communication Science and Disorders major. She has a background in biology, with her current focus being on audiological sciences and Deaf culture. She is involved with the National Student Speech Hearing Association, the Student Academy of Audiology, Operation Smile, the Signing Seminoles American Sign Language Club, and Lambda Pi Eta. She aspires to attend an audiology program to obtain a doctorate in audiology after graduating.

 

Riane Williams is an undergraduate research assistant in the HEAR Lab. She is pursuing a dual degree in Public Health and Chinese along with minors in biological science and chemistry. She is also a pre-medical student with intentions of getting an MD/PhD dual degree in the future. She is interested in getting her PhD in Public Health and specializing as a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Doctor.

 

Yuqing Zhang is a graduate research assistant in the HEAR lab. She is from China and is currently an graduate at Florida State University, majoring in East Asian Language and Culture. She is interested in pedagogy and second language acquisition.
